But ‘bhailog’ wait karne ka kya…Before Hirani goes on floor for the third in the series he plans to make a light hearted film on the education system and how it dampens creativity in students. Movie Review: PHOONK 2

Ram Gopal Verma is back with his sequel to ‘Phoonk’. Of course, this one has not been directed by him, but by Milind Gadagkar. ‘Phoonk’ had the crow and now ‘Phoonk 2? has a doll, which spooks you. The movie starts promisingly well, though it gets a little slow as it goes on but post interval, it shows some real fast movements. Phoonk 2 captures the fear of a family caught hostage to a murderous, animalistic spirit seeking revenge by brutally terrorizing them.

“Phoonk” ends with the killing of Madhu, the woman who casts a black magic spell on Rajiv’s daughter Raksha. Phoonk 2 begins with Madhu’s ghost returning from the grave to seek revenge on the family.
Rajiv moves with his family to a new place. Raksha and her brother Rohan begin exploring the new place and the surroundings — the lonely beach and then the woods behind the house. The action begins with Raksha and Rohan finding a doll in the woods which then progresses to a series of highly disturbing experiences for the whole family.

Manja, who is Rajiv’s best friend and the only person whom he could turn to, meets a horrifying and frightful death at the hands of the black magic woman Madhu’s ghost, in order to seek revenge on Rajiv, by torturing his loved ones.
Debutante director Milind Gadagkar uses every trick possible to make PHOONK 2 work and he was successful to a greater extent. The night shots, secluded bungalow, eerie silence, captivating sound design and crazy camera angles did make a wonderful end product.

Post interval, the real action began, though a number of questions remain unanswered. Questions like what do Amit Sadh and Neeru(Rajiv’s sister and brother-in-law) see in the jungles that they start running helter-skelter? Also, if the spirit could enter a body [in this case, the wife's], where does it disappear when the wife falls off the terrace towards the end?

All these un answered questions, I’m sure will be covered in Phoonk 2’s sequel, as the movie is left open ended, for a sequel to continue.

The sound effects plays a major role in this flick which makes it a horrow film.According to me, the movie introduces the biggest fear that will follow you when you leave the theaters after having watched. It is a movie worth watching.

Sanjay Dutt wants to annul his marriage.

Sanju Baba who had recently married his sweetheart Manyata, has asked for annulment of his marriage citing technical reasons according to a court official. Dutt had married Manyata Dilnawaz Sheikh in a secret ceremony in Goa, and after a few days a traditional Hindu Wedding was held in Mumbai. But their wedding vows landed them in trouble, when a man suddenly popped up claiming to be Manyata’s husband and also revealed that they have a two-year-old son.
Officials claimed that both Manyata and Dutt did not file proof of their divorces before getting married.

The official quoted from the affidavit filed by the couple that they did not wish to solemnise their marriage under the Portuguese civil code, 1867.
Sanjay and Manyata’s marriage had run into problems from the day one when Manyata was alleged to have forged residence documents to marry in Goa.
Well let’s hope that the couple comes out of this chicken soup really soon, and happily remarry in presence of all relatives.

Well in that case I have good news for you. Karan has got some real combinations left for the show this season. The first dhamakedaar combination is Shah Rukh Khan- Deepika Padukone- Farah Khan on Sunday, August 26th at 9 p.m. on Star One and Star World. And needless to say the episode is a fun roller coaster ride.

Excerpts from the fun episode:

Karan: Welcome back to Koffee with Karan, How does it feel? It is your third appearance?

Farah: Fourth, if you are not counting when I was a judge in the last season.

Karan: Oh right, you judged the finale episode.

Farah: Ya. I have been here almost as much as you.

Karan: A big event that has transformed your life is your wedding. That happened two years ago?

Farah: Ya, two years.

Karan: I thought it would change you. Tell me, has it changed you?

Farah: ahhhhhh… has it?

Karan: I am asking you. Has it made you softer, calmer?

Farah: I don’t think it has made me calmer for sure. But yes, it has given me a perspective in life. And I do enjoy staying at home a lot more now.

Karan: Yes, you have someone to come home to.

Farah: Ya. I like being around the house, doing homely things… not just being on set so much. But I still enjoyed making my second movie a little more than I enjoyed making my first one… when I wasn’t married then.

Karan: So cool you look — new hair do, muscles, six pack I heard…

SRK: Four

Farah: Four have come, two to go!

SRK: I am still working on the last two.

Karan: What made you make this change?

SRK: My son feels I am fat.

Karan: He thinks you are fat?

SRK: He thinks I am fat. He beat up a girl because, first she called me an a******, then she said I look very ugly on KBC… sorry Star. He didn’t react, he controlled himself. Finally, when she said, your father is fat, he kicked her. So I got angry with him, and he said, ‘Papa, you know what? It is not her fault, it’s you. Why are you fat? Because she said, ugly, I didn’t mind. You looked handsome on KBC. You are not an a****** I know. You are a cool guy. But you are fat Papa.’

Karan: He thinks you are fat.

SRK: Just imagine. What he thinks about you and Farah, lets not get into that.

Farah: Thanks!

Karan: Are you nervous at all?

Deepika: I am very nervous.

Karan: Was it the same kind of nervousness when you were offered this film? You had to work with Shah Rukh, with Farah… were you completely like all nerves the first day?

Deepika: It was the same kind of nervousness; especially on the first day. Although Farah went all out to make me feel comfortable, she introduced me to Shah Rukh well in advance…

Karan: And everyone tells that he is a terrific co-star…

Deepika: He is fantastic to work with.

Karan: It feels special that you are a part of such a monstrous project? .

Deepika: Yes and we have almost come to the end of it.

SRK: I thought Karan was saying you are part of such a monster (pointing to Farah).

Deepika: No, she was wonderful.

Kareena Kapoor’s dietician Rujuta Diwekar has come out with a book called Don’t Lose Your Mind, Lose Your Weight and Kareena Kapoor wrote a foreword for the book in which she has herself revealed her breakfast secrets that lead to her size zero figure.

“Rujuta has changed my perception towards diets and dieting. She has taught me to eat well, eat right and eat regularly. I started working with her around the time I started work on Tashan. The results are for all to see. My size zero became a topic of national interest. The media asked me if it was diet or exercise. It was a combination of both; 70% diet and 30% exercise-training and yoga,” writes Kareena in her foreword.

“Rujuta understands my work and lifestyle and has given me a diet totally customised to my needs. My diet on work days is different from my diet on shoot days. It even on varies on shoot days, like it is different if I have to dance or perform. The meal is planned according to my level of activity.”

“In Mumbai, my breakfast is muesli and milk or a chillah or parathas; no chai or coffee. While shooting for Tashan in Ladakh. I ate fresh fruit for breakfast and thukpas and momos for my other meals. I had pudina tea without milk. On the last day, I was allowed pizza as well. In Kerala, I had idlis and appams. In Italy it was risotto and pasta with gorgonzola; half portions though, not full.”

“I make sure I eat every two hours. My evening snack or meal is soy milk or a sandwich. Rujuta focuses on nutrition, not calories. Amazingly, she likes to keep the nutritional value of what you eat, as compared to the calories consumed, high. I have learnt what she means when she says, “be smart about food” and still enjoy what you eat. Sexual Orientation Gossip Bothers Karan Johar

Much has been said (and spoofed) about Karan Johar’s happy and ‘gay’ mannerisms. The fact that K.Jo is successful yet still single (no wife, no girlfriend) really gave people a chance to gossip about his sexual orientation.

The man has been subtly trying to get homosexuality a bit of social acceptance in a conservative country like India (read: Kantaben sequences in Kal Ho Naa Ho and now the entire movie Dostana) but obviously disguising it as light hearted humor and pun.

People have been assuming that Karan Johar is a gay and perhaps that is why he keeps getting the topic of homosexuality in his films. But K.Jo seems to be unfazed or rather irritated with the gossip, he says,

“I don’t care about what people’s perceptions are. People have questioned me about my orientation often. I feel it’s nobody’s problem. There are two words, private and personal, which I haven’t put in this English language, but I know they mean something, that’s why they are attached to the word ‘life’, private life and personal life. It’s my prerogative to say “it’s not your problem; it’s none of your concern”.

He’s added, “People don’t know any thing about me actually and I don’t want them to share whether I have a marriage hidden somewhere or I have a relationship that no one knows about or I don’t have anything and I am a monk in my head and I have taken an oath of celibacy.”

Well Karan… obviously no one cares… we are just CURIOUS

Kangana Ranaut Keeps Maun, finds Tehrav!

Kangana Ranaut is unfazed by things around her from the time she has moved on to Yoga. She admitted she was going through tough times (thanks to Aditya Pancholi) but Yoga helped her sail through. She says,

“I got everything very soon in my life but personally my life was going through too much of trauma. I was really trapped by dirty people and they wouldn’t let me concentrate on my work. They tried to harm me both physically as well as mentally.”

She is quite vivacious and effervescent in nature and the practice of Maun or Silence helped her find ‘tehrav’ or harmony in life.

“Initially I found it very difficult to stay silent;  however through perseverance I did manage to develop this as a regular part of my yoga practice and have benefited ever since.”

“When I am working, I have to give it 100%. So that’s why I took a break for my personal work to sort out all my issues and only then got back to work. I did not want to struggle between work and personal issues. I am not that kind of a person. I can do only one thing at a time”, she had stated earlier.

“Now, through Silence, I feel I’ve discovered my Soul, the very centre of my being, which is the source of all my energy – creative, spiritual, emotional and mental. I’ve always been a very focused person, and I’ve chosen to portray characters in my film that are challenging and strong. This awareness and practice has given me greater ability to channel my energy effectively to deliver even better on these performances”, she says in an obvious relaxed tone.

Perhaps that means there would be no co-star rivalries for Kangana anymore.

Kajol Troubles Karan Johar for Nysa

Kajol, after months of persuasion from Karan Johar agreed to do his film The Name is Khan. And Karan Johar is really having a hard time to deal with Kajol, who had agreed to do the film on the condition that he should use her dates for the overseas shoot of the film for not more than 20 days at a stretch.

A source says, “Kajol has told the director-producer that she would shoot for 20 days non-stop on location to enable all the outdoor scenes being canned. She desires that the indoor portions be shot as far as possible in Mumbai. As her hubby Ajay Devgan is also busy with his shoots, she wants to be around for Nysa. The child cannot travel with them all the time. Also, Kajol does not want to stay away from Mumbai for months.”

Poor Karan Johar is having a hard time managing his finances with his leading lady shuttling between the foreign locations and Mumbai for her daughter.
